SUCREBEAD is derived from "Sucre" and "Bead." SUCREBEAD is a column filled with anion-exchange packing material for carbohydrate analysis only. The material is created by bonding the quaternary alkylamine group to a styrene divinylbenzene copolymer. The singly distributed particle size was established by "two-stage swelling" polymerization.
Hydroxy groups of carbohydrates are known to dissociate and behave as an acid in a strongly basic environment. The resultant ionized groups become electrochemically active, and can be detected with pulsed amperometric detector (PAD). The anious are also suitable for separation by anion-exchange chromatography. SUCREBEAD is ideal for the method, providing anion-exchanging groups and high chemical stability in basic environments.
